Software Development: Releases

Software Development > Releases (/software/releases) is the software team's roadmap. It is the first item of the Software Development menu and opens for admins, developers and people with QA access when the Software development module is on.

The Software Development menu

Plan first, in this order, in the left sidebar for everyone who sees the section: Releases, Issues, Board, Testing. Inside the Testing page, a row of tabs switches between Library, Plans & runs and My tests (the cases assigned to you; it used to be called "My cases"). Live lanes and the developer leaderboard are under Resources.

Planned

Every release that is not released yet, soonest due date first.

  • Issues: everything targeted at the release. Click the number to see them in Issues.
  • Done: resolved or closed over everything targeted, as a bar and a percentage.
  • Open bugs / features: what is still open, split by type.
  • Late (in red): the due date is past and the release is not out yet.
  • Planning bucket: versions like "30days" or "60days" that some projects use as time buckets. They sort by their date and are never flagged late.
  • Release test: the Testing run tied to this release, as "Test 12/15 passed ยท 2 failed". Click it to open the run. Use change to set the run number (or clear it to unlink).

Shipped

Released versions, newest first. Each one lists Fixed (bugs) and New (features): the issues whose "fixed in version" is that release. Open a list to see them; each number opens the issue in Mantis.

Filters

  • Project: pick a project. A project includes its sub-projects (for example AxSTREAM Platform includes Turbine and Compressor). A sub-project shows its parent's releases that its own issues target.
  • Saved filter: every roadmap you can open that names Mantis projects in its Settings works as a saved filter (for example AXPILOT, or AxSTREAM Platform Development). To add one, name the Mantis projects in that roadmap's Settings.
  • Clear removes both.

Pages

Each tab shows 100 releases per page, with "page N of M" and Previous / Next at the bottom. The project filter (and saved filter) stays applied when you change page or switch between Planned and Shipped. A link to one release opens the page that holds it.

Where the numbers come from

SoftInWay (Mantis): Mantis stays the source of truth and decides when a version is released. Otium shows a read-only copy that the office PC pushes hourly from 7 AM to 7 PM (Eastern). A sub-project's issues count toward its parent's version when the sub-project has no version of its own by that name. Bug or Feature: Feature when the Mantis severity is "feature" or the category is "Feature Request", otherwise Bug. The release test only shows progress; it does not change anything in Mantis.

OtiumWork: the same page shows Otium's own releases and issues (no Mantis). Each planned release has a Deploy checklist. It cannot be marked ready for prod until every item has a passing OtiumWork run and its release test run has passed. Only Val can override, with a reason, and the override is logged. Done counts issues that are fixed, verified or closed.

Roadmap goals

A 1:1 or team roadmap goal can link to a release. The goal then shows one line, for example "3.10.11 ยท 72% ยท due Dec 31", which opens that release here. See 1:1s & Roadmaps.
