Software Development: Board

Software Development > Board (/software-dev/board) shows your workspace's issues as cards. A card is the issue: there is no copied task, and the same issue shows on Issues. It shows for workspaces with the Software development module on, to admins, developers and people with QA access.

Columns

To do, In progress, In review, Testing, Done. Blocked is a flag on the card, not a column.

The board shows the open issues, every resolved issue (the Testing column: QA still has to re-test it, so it never drops off) and those closed in the last 7 days, not older history; the header gives the three numbers (for example "73 open ยท 12 in testing ยท 5 closed in the last 7 days"). Open means not resolved or closed, the same as the Open count on Issues, so the two pages agree. Older closed issues are on Issues (Status: All).

  • Mantis workspace (SoftInWay): new, feedback, acknowledged and confirmed are To do; assigned is In progress; resolved is Testing; closed is Done. Feedback (waiting for an answer) shows as Blocked. In review is not used for Mantis.
  • Native issues (OtiumWork): the same, plus In review.

Cards

Each card shows the type (Bug or Feature), the issue number, severity, priority, target version, fixed-in version, handler, tester, and the test runs that found or verify it. For Mantis the number opens the issue in Mantis, and the card shows ๐Ÿ”’ Change in Mantis: Otium never writes to Mantis.

Moving cards

  • Mantis cards are read-only. They move when the issue changes in Mantis, the next time the copy arrives.
  • Native cards move by dragging, exactly as on My Tasks, or with the card's โ‹ฏ menu (top right): Move to a column, Flag blocked / Unblock, Open issue. The menu works with the keyboard (Tab to โ‹ฏ, Enter, Esc closes it) and on a phone, where dragging is awkward. The rules are the My Tasks ones: you can move issues you handle (the assignee), issues you reported (you handed them out) and issues you test; admins and the AI dev and QA agents can move any card. A card you can't move is locked.
  • A move changes the issue's status: To do = confirmed, In progress = assigned (you become the handler if nobody is), In review = in review, Testing = resolved, Done = closed. Testing and Done set the resolution to fixed; Done also sets the fixed-in version to the target version, so Releases lists the issue as shipped. Moving a card back out of Testing or Done reopens it.
  • An issue linked to a task moves that task on My Tasks too.
  • Flag blocked / Unblock in the card's โ‹ฏ menu sets the flag.
  • The issues you handle are also on your My Tasks board (see My Tasks): moving one there moves the same issue here.

Filters

Developer (the handler, or Unassigned), Project, Release (the target version). Columns show up to 200 cards; the rest are on Issues.

What the board covers (admins)

Open Board settings under the board.

  • Departments: by default the board covers the Engineering - Software department when your workspace has one: issues its people handle, unassigned issues, and issues on the software projects you tick. Type other department names (comma separated) to change it.
  • No department: when there is no such department (or you clear the list), the board covers every software project you ticked, plus issues with no project; with nothing ticked, every project.
  • For Mantis, only issues handled by an Otium person of another department are left out; Mantis handlers who are not in Otium stay.
  • "Back to the default" restores the default department.
