Microsoft Teams

Otium works with Teams in two ways. Set both up at /integrations/teams (also listed under My Day β†’ Integrations).

Teams as you

Connect once, and Claude (through the Otium connector) or OtiumBot can:

  • Read your chats: "what did Elena say about the VPN?", "catch me up on my chat with Vladlen".
  • Send a message as you: "tell Vladlen in Teams the deploy is done". Before sending, Claude shows you the exact text and who it goes to, and waits for your yes. If you already gave the exact text and recipient, it sends straight away.

Messages go out under your own name, in your normal 1:1 chat with that person. Otium keeps a log of everything it sent for you; the last ten are on /integrations/teams.

Connecting: click Connect Teams and approve "read and write your chats" in the Microsoft sign-in. If Microsoft says an admin has to approve, your Microsoft 365 admin needs to grant the Chat.ReadWrite permission to the OtiumWork app once for the company.

OtiumBot

Otium is a contact in Teams you can message like a colleague:

  • What's on my board this week? Β· Add a to-do: call GΓΆkhan Friday
  • Prep my 1:1 with Jon Β· Put on Jon's check-in: agreed to focus on pumps
  • Log 2 hours on FluidStack today
  • What's the latest with Bet Shemesh? (Sales AI, for sales reps)

Type help to see this list in Teams, and new to start a fresh conversation.

How it behaves:

  • It's you, with your permissions. OtiumBot can only see and change what you could on the website. Nobody else's private notes, HR notes or personal to-dos.
  • Private chats only. It doesn't answer in group chats or channels, so your data never lands in front of others.
  • It asks before acting for anything that changes data or speaks for you.
  • It can message you first: reminders and reports from Otium arrive in your Otium chat.

To start: in Teams, open Apps, find Otium, add it and say hi. Use Send me a test message on /integrations/teams to check notifications reach you.

For admins: setting up OtiumBot

One-time, about 15 minutes, free:

  1. Azure portal β†’ Create a resource β†’ Azure Bot. Type of App: Single Tenant, pricing tier Free (F0).
  2. The bot's Configuration: messaging endpoint https://otiumwork.com/api/teams/bot/messages. Note the Microsoft App ID and App Tenant ID.
  3. Manage Password β†’ new client secret; copy the value.
  4. Channels β†’ add Microsoft Teams.
  5. In Otium /ops/integrations, save TEAMS_BOT_APP_ID, TEAMS_BOT_APP_PASSWORD and TEAMS_BOT_TENANT_ID.
  6. On /integrations/teams, Download Teams app, then upload it in the Teams admin center (Teams apps β†’ Manage apps β†’ Upload new app) and allow it for everyone.

For "Teams as you", also grant admin consent for Chat.ReadWrite on the OtiumWork app registration (Microsoft Entra β†’ App registrations β†’ OtiumWork β†’ API permissions β†’ Add Microsoft Graph delegated Chat.ReadWrite β†’ Grant admin consent). While there, grant Tasks.ReadWrite too, for My Tasks ↔ Microsoft To Do.
